Service Description
In some cases, a double tuning is required, which is called a pitch adjustment. Has it been longer than a year since your piano has been tuned? Did you just purchase a used piano, from someone online? Or receive a gifted piano? Has your piano been in a varying climate? Does it sound like a "honky tonk" piano? Is it more than 25c sharp or flat? With a combined total of 16-22 tons of tension, the 220+ strings in your piano hold enough tension to lift a house off the corner of it's foundation. As time passes by, your piano's pitch drops further and further away from it's proper tension levels. Jessica must properly restore the tension throughout the entire piano, stretching the strings past their target pitch of A440hz, before a tuning and fine tuning can take place. Pricing is based on location, type of piano, and amount of work needed in each specific scenario, but typically it is an extra $100 for the pitch adjustment, as long as it can be done in the same day. **If a piano is evaluated to be in poor condition, and no longer tunable without major work, $100 trip and evaluation charge applies.
